Atletico Madrid are tracking Alexandre Lacazette over a possible summer transfer, and they’ve even made contact with the player, according to a report in France.

Soccerlink claim Atletico Madrid are keen to sign Alexandre Lacazette this summer. Sporting director Andrea Berta has reportedly already spoken with the player personally, whilst Lacazette apparently contacted Antoine Griezmann over housing.

The outlet adds that Lacazette is happy at Arsenal but also confident of a summer transfer.

With Mikel Arteta reportedly not viewing the player as an essential element of his side and the club looking for cash to spend on the midfield and defence, a substantial offer could convince the Gunners.

These are all just rumours at this stage. In all honesty, I wouldn’t expect to hear anything concrete about Lacazette’s future until Arsenal’s season is over.

The Gunners could still finish in the Champions League, the Europa League, or out of Europe entirely. They could win the FA Cup or crash out in the quarter-finals. Lacazette could keep scoring at his current rate (three in four games) or go back to his run of nine without a goal.

Until we know how that turns out, it’s unlikely anything serious will happen on the transfer front.
