Italian outlet Calciomercato claim both Arsenal and North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur are among those in the queue for Marcel Sabitzer this summer.

The versatile 25-year-old has played all over the midfield for RB Leipzig this season. Most commonly, he appears in the centre or the right of midfield. However, he can also play a more defensive or attacking midfield role, further forward on the right-wing, or even on the left if necessary.

Sabitzer played at left-central-midfield against Spurs on Tuesday, scoring twice in a 3-0 win over José Mourinho’s side. That performance is certainly not going to quell any of the rumours about his future.

The player has a contract until 2022, just two more years by this summer. It’s not impossible Leipzig will try to cash in while they still can, though they may also try to extend the contract of their current captain.

In all competitions, Sabitzer has 15 goals and eight assists in 35 appearances in 2019/20. He’d certainly add a lot of goals from an area of the pitch Arsenal aren’t getting too many at the moment.

Joe Willock is the squad’s top goalscoring central midfielder this season, with four goals in all competitions. Matteo Guendouzi and Mesut Özil are the top midfield assisters with three each. So no Arsenal midfielder matches up in either category.

Calciomercato suggest a deal for Sabitzer could cost as much as €40m this summer.
