Former major Arsenal shareholder, Alisher Usmanov, has landed his nephew a job with Everton, a club he has repeatedly been linked with investing in.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Sarvar Ismailov has been appointed as the first Sporting and Commercial Director for Everton’s women’s team as the Merseyside club expand that side of the club.

Usmanov has already pumped money into Everton in the form of sponsorship that was investigated by Panorama and while he did confirm an interest in investing properly in the club in January, the Echo report it is their understanding he will not be going down that route.

Alisher Usmanov finally gave in and accepted an offer from Stan Kroenke for his stake in Arsenal towards the end of 2018, after coming to the realisation that he would never convince the American to let go of the club.

There were reports at that time that he might buy into Everton (or even Charlton). His friend, Farhad Moshiri, had sold his stake in Arsenal so he could invest in the Toffees in 2016.

Moshiri now owns 77.2% of the Goodison Park side.
