Before the Premier League postponed the Manchester City clash with Arsenal on Wednesday, five academy players were in training with the first team.

Some of Arsenal’s senior stars are currently self-isolating, following contact with Olympiacos owner Evangelos Marinakis in their Europa League tie a couple of weeks ago. Before that, however, they were all in training as usual, along with some academy youngsters.

Four members of the Arsenal u18s took part in training with the first team on Tuesday. Miguel Azeez, Kido Taylor-Hart and Alfie Matthews posted pictures alongside their senior counterparts on Instagram. Meanwhile, Catalin Cirjan could be spotted in the background of some training photos (see above).

U23 centre-back Zech Medley also joined the training session. He recently scored a couple of goals from set-pieces as Steve Bould’s side reached the Premier League International Cup semi-finals.

The u18s probably aren’t so keen to relive their last performance, as they crashed out of the FA Youth Cup to Blackburn Rovers at the quarter-final stage.

All the same, Azeez, Taylor-Hart, Matthews and Cirjan are some of the brightest talents in that underperforming team right now. They’ll surely benefit from time with the senior players. Hopefully, that’ll help them start winning with the u18s.
