As per reports from Sportske in Croatia, Robbie Burton has travelled to Maksimir to complete his transfer to Dinamo Zagreb.

Sources have confirmed to Daily Cannon the move is a permanent one, not a loan, and it’s ‘all confirmed’. The midfielder’s dream was always to play for the first team at Arsenal. But despite giving his all over the summer to make that happen, it never quite did.

The 20-year-old impressed in pre-season, particularly in the opening games against Colorado Rapids and Bayern Munich. He did earn a call-up to the senior squad for the League Cup game against Nottingham Forest, but didn’t make it onto the pitch.

The door certainly doesn’t seem to be completely closed on a return one day, but for now, Burton is moving on. He made 19 appearances for the Arsenal u23s in his final campaign, regularly captaining the side and scoring three goals.

Burton can play a number of midfield roles, and he’s an u21 international with Wales. He’s a strong passer with good vision and someone who always fought for every decision.

It’s a shame it didn’t work out in North London, but Arsenal’s midfield options are a bit too numerous. Hopefully, Zagreb will provide him with a path to regular first-team football.
