Nottingham Forest have seemingly signed former Arsenal academy midfielder Marcus McGuane, though their fans face a nervous wait for confirmation.

Marcus McGuane spent the first half of the season on loan with SC Telstar, and they were the first to seemingly confirm the player’s January move to Nottingham Forest. They posted a good luck message on Twitter on Saturday morning.

There’s been quite a bit of speculation about the move in the last month.

The Nottingham Post wrote late on deadline day that Forest remained hopeful of completing the move, but they were waiting on international clearance.

Even before that, in mid-January, Telstar boss Andries Jonker told the media McGuane had an agreement over personal terms with an English club. At the time, they were still negotiating the transfer, but let McGuane stay in England while they sorted it out.

McGuane made 16 appearances for Telstar in the first half of the season. He scored once and assisted three times from midfield, starting all-but-one game until mid-December.

Clearly, things weren’t working out for him though. He dropped out of the team before their final game of the year, then spent the last month trying to get the deal to join Nottingham Forest over the line. Good luck to him with the Championship club if it happens.
