Dejan Iliev made his competitive debut for Jagiellonia away from home on February 8th, and it’s fair to say it didn’t go well. We reported on the match with Polish writer Eryk Delinger, if you want to read that here.

The goalkeeper had a chance to put things right in his first game in front of the home fans on Sunday. Thankfully, he took advantage with a clean sheet. Read our report from Eryk below.

Jagiellonia Białystok 0-0 Korona Kielce

This was a turn of fortune for Dejan Iliev, as the Arsenal loanee responded to last week’s nightmare performance with a clean sheet on his home debut.

Iliev spent most of the afternoon completely untroubled. Jagiellonia Białystok and Korona Kielce played out a dull 0-0 draw and it was his Korona counterpart who had more work to do throughout.

Nevertheless, it was Dejan who made the game’s most GIF-worthy save.

It is worth noting that Iliev had to play behind a completely rebuilt backline. Coach Ivaylo Petev dropped 3 of 4 defenders that started in last week’s 0-3 debacle at Wisła Kraków. Two of those brought in were making their debuts for Jaga.

Despite the clean sheet and the fact that Dejan faced just 3 shots on target throughout, it’s hard to judge if the changes really paid off. Korona are hands down the most lacklustre attacking outfit in the Ekstraklasa, with just 12 goals in 22 games this season.
