Arsenal are tracking Gent forward Jonathan David ahead of a potential summer transfer, according to various reports, with the price set at around €20m.

Jeunes Footeux claim Arsenal join Everton, Leicester and a number of European clubs in showing an interest in Jonathan David. The Guardian’s Ed Aarons confirms Arsenal are following the player, adding that Lyon bid for him in January.

Obviously, Gent turned down that offer in the winter window. David is only expected to cost around €20m in the summer though.

The 20-year-old is having the standout season of his young career so far. He has 19 goals and 10 assists in 35 appearances this season, at least at the time of writing. He’s likely to feature for Gent against AS Roma tonight.

David hasn’t entirely settled on one position just yet. He can play centre-forward, attacking midfield or even on the wings. The Canadian international seems to get involved in the goals regardless.

The young forward’s international record is excellent too, with 11 goals and five assists in 12 games. Albeit not against the strongest national teams, with the likes of Cuba, Martinique and French Guiana making up the majority of those goal contributions.

It’s worth remembering the Leandro Trossard situation last year. Another Belgian league forward scoring for fun, with the Guardian endorsing Arsenal’s interest, only for the winger to end up at Brighton. We’ll see if this has more to it.
