Matteo Guendouzi joined Arsenal in 2018 on a four-year deal. At the time, that seemed like a long contract considering the gamble the club were taking on a Ligue 2 player. 77 appearances later, it feels like they should have made if five years from the start.

The result is that Football.London report Arsenal are planning to offer a significant wage increase this summer. They aren’t in talks just yet, and won’t hold negotiations until the end of the season. It’s only a matter of time until they try to extend now though.

Guendouzi started Arsenal’s last game against Burnley, and it’s perfectly possible he’ll keep his place this weekend against Newcastle. To bet on the upcoming Premier League matches, visit https://efirbet.com/en/.

The 20-year-old is reportedly on wages of £40,000-a-week as things stand. Considering he’s up to 20 starts already this season, after 33 last campaign, it’s fair to say he’s earning an increase.

That’s not to say the midfielder’s performances have always been consistent. He’s had some great games this season, particularly in the second half of a number of comebacks like against Spurs, Aston Villa and Vitoria.

Understandably for his age, that’s not always the case though. He was excellent in the recent FA Cup clash with Bournemouth, but disappointing in the following fixture against Burnley, for the most recent example.

A good run of form from now until May followed by an extension would suit everyone.
