Arsenal are already considering signing Pablo Mari permanently, even though he only joined on loan last month, according to reports in Brazil.

Coluna do Fla report that the permanent transfer of Pablo Mari to Arsenal is already well underway. In talks between the two clubs, the Gunners are making it clear they intend to exercise their purchase clause.

If they do so, the total fee to Flamengo for the loan and purchase could eventually reach €16m with bonuses.

Now, it’s worth keeping in mind this is all coming from Flamengo’s side. They’ll want to overplay the fee and the chances of their club getting a payday as much as possible. From the English media, the reports suggest the total fee is closer to €10m.

Mari made his debut for the Arsenal u23s on the 18th, but he’s still waiting for his first start with the senior side. They’re clearly trying to take things slowly, considering he was on holiday before the transfer to North London.

The game against Portsmouth on Monday could present a great opportunity for a full debut. If it’s true that Arsenal are already considering a permanent move though, clearly the player is impressing Mikel Arteta in training already.
