Mikel Arteta has confirmed he believes Granit Xhaka will stay at Arsenal during this transfer window despite reportedly agreeing personal terms with Hertha Berlin.
Speaking after the Swiss midfielder put in another impressive display, this time as Arsenal beat Manchester United, Arteta was asked about Xhaka’s future and if he thinks the player will stay.
“Yes, he did [give me that reassurance],” said Arteta.
“I think he is going to stay. He was very good [against United], and I really like him. With the way we want to play, if we get him on board I think he can be a tremendous player for the football club.
“I like everything about him. His commitment, I like the way he is, the way he lifts his profession, how focused he is. Every time I am talking, he is listening and is willing to learn.
“He is a great football player. The way we want to play, there are not many with his quality on the ball, his range of pass, so I am delighted to have him.”
Xhaka has reportedly agreed personal terms with Hertha Berlin who have supposedly sent in a formal off in writing for the player.
Arteta is a huge fan of the 27-year-old and has already, reportedly, blocked any move.
As we discussed on this week’s podcast, Arteta could be he manager Granit Xhaka has been waiting his whole career for.
