Cesc Fabregas made sure the influence of Francis Cagigao didn’t go unnoticed after Arsenal came from behind twice to draw with Chelsea on Tuesday.

Francis Cagigao is part of the recruitment team at Arsenal, and he uncovered a few gems for the club over the years. Cesc Fabregas was one of them, as Cagigao pushed to bring him in from Barcelona. He also convinced Arsenal to sign Santi Cazorla.

More recently, Cagigao spotted Hector Bellerin and Gabriel Martinelli, Arsenal’s goalscorers on Tuesday. Bringing both in for small fees for them to shine at a young age is impressive scouting. Clearly, he saw something other top clubs didn’t.

Fabregas didn’t forget the man who brought him to England in the first place. As the goals went in at Stamford Bridge, he took to Twitter to credit Cagigao.

Arsenal fans can certainly show some gratitude to Cagigao this morning. Bellerin may be on the slow road back to his best after injury, but he’s already given us almost 200 appearances for the club. Can’t knock that output from a low-profile youth signing.

Meanwhile, Martinelli is the top teenage goalscorer in Europe’s top-five leagues. I don’t really need to make a case for him.

Fingers crossed Cagigao has a few more discoveries like those two in him.
