Olivier Giroud will stay with Chelsea until the end of the season, despite his struggles for games and interest from Tottenham Hotspur, according to David Ornstein.

David Ornstein reports Giroud is in training with Chelsea today, after the club ended their attempts to secure a replacement for him. He’ll stay with Chelsea until summer regardless of whether he plays. Only ‘extraordinary’ circumstances would change that now.

As we covered yesterday, Di Marzio initially claimed Spurs were offering a 1.5-year contract to sign the former Arsenal striker. Ornstein then reported Giroud was ‘open’ to the offer. However, he added Chelsea would only sell with a replacement.

As it turns out, Chelsea failed to bring anyone in, so they’ll keep Giroud instead.

The 33-year-old is up to seven appearances (three starts) this season, none since November. He didn’t even make the squad in any of Chelsea’s last nine Premier League games. Clearly, Frank Lampard isn’t a huge fan of him.

With the Euros this summer, Giroud obviously wants to play. Didier Deschamps will probably pick him regardless, as he did for the last three international breaks during the current campaign. Still, it’s a risk.
