Spanish outlet Sport claim Barcelona are ruling out the arrival of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this month. The player’s age is a handicap to a potential deal, as well as the need to adapt to Barcelona’s style.

Barcelona believe Valencia striker Rodrigo wouldn’t need as much time to settle. Alternatively, they could move for Olivier Giroud, who already knows how to play with Antoine Griezmann and Ousmane Dembele from the French national team.

Regardless, it seems Aubameyang is off the table. As recently as yesterday, reports suggested the striker was open to a move. It always seemed unlikely to happen though, given Arsenal’s reliance on their club captain.

Plus, the only credible reports on the rumour suggested Barcelona wanted the 30-year-old on loan. That was never going to happen.

Aubameyang is out with a suspension at the moment, and he’ll miss one more game, the FA Cup fixture against AFC Bournemouth. The club captain has 17 goal contributions in 26 games this season.
