The Telegraph claim Arsenal expect Barcelona to move for Aubameyang before deadline day on Friday. The La Liga club are desperate to bring in a striker after losing Luis Suarez to injury. Aubameyang is their top target right now.

On the other hand, Barcelona aren’t optimistic about doing a deal. They expect Arsenal to ask for £50m or more, which is above what they’re willing to pay.

You can understand why, given Aubameyang’s age and the length of his contract (18 months). At the same time, it’s not hard to see why Arsenal value him so highly. To Mikel Arteta’s side, the club’s top goalscorer is a very valuable asset.

The Telegraph deny an agreement between Barcelona and Aubameyang over personal terms, though they claim the reports that the striker would be keen on a move are accurate.

If Barcelona don’t sign Aubameyang this window, they probably won’t in the summer either. They need a replacement now, so they’re likely to turn to Rodrigo.

It’s obviously not ideal to have Barcelona chasing your best players. In this case, I wouldn’t expect it to go anywhere though. Arsenal just aren’t in a position to sell him right now, particularly in this window.
