Arsenal have enquired about a potential transfer fee and wages for Jerome Boateng, as well as asking about the possibility of a loan, according to reports.

Sky in Germany report Boateng wants to leave Bayern Munich in the January window. Arsenal are following the situation with interest, and they’ve asked for details on fees, wages and loan possibilities.

If it is possible, a loan for Boateng would actually work very well for Arsenal. It would fill the gap in the short term, and allow the club to make more long-term purchases and sales at centre-back in the summer.

It just doesn’t seem very likely Bayern want to loan Boateng out at this stage of his career. The player would really need to push it through, and it’s hard to see why he would want a loan either.

More likely, a permanent move would work better for player and club. Bayern want around €15m, according to reports.

Boateng plays at centre-back, but he can also play at full-back. He could make good cover for both positions at Arsenal as a result. The Gunners are struggling in central defence after Calum Chambers’ injury (and they were before it too).
