David Luiz won the official Man of the Match award against United, and he made it into the BBC’s Team of the Week. Garth Crooks argued there isn’t a defender out there who can rise to the occasion like Luiz ‘when he puts his mind to it’.

The BBC point out no Arsenal player made more clearances or blocks than Luiz against United.

Meanwhile, WhoScored have Bernd Leno and Sokratis Papastathopoulos in their team:

Sokratis got an 8.02 rating, the highest of any Premier League centre-back for the weekend. He won 100% of his aerial duels, three tackles, made four clearances and scored Arsenal’s second goal.

Leno got a 7.6 rating, which was still enough to rank him at the top of the league’s goalkeepers. He made four saves, three punches and one successful run-out (of one attempted). It was a great way to bounce back from the mistake against Chelsea.

If Arsenal are going to start getting some wins on the board, perhaps it isn’t surprising that’s going to come from increased solidity at the back.
