Napoli have reportedly made Arsenal an offer to take Lucas Torreira on loan for 18 months with a €27m option to buy but will they really let him go as well?

Napoli’s sporting director reportedly contacted Arsenal on Monday to submit their laughable offer for Lucas Torreira.

According to the report from Gazetta dello Sport, Arsenal aren’t thrilled with it but are waiting to see what the player wants to do, given that he has already expressed his unhappiness at being used in the wrong position.

Now that Emery has gone, that will require that he sits down for a chat with Mikel Arteta to discuss future plans before anything can be decided.

Arsenal are facing the very real prospect of letting Granit Xhaka, Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leave in the upcoming window.

With their league position perilous, it seems insane that they would sanction the departure of Torreria at the same time, if rumours are to be believed that the other three are off in January.

The club haven’t even finished off paying the fee they offered for Torreira only last summer.

That being said, as Arsenal embark on a total rebuild, players who don’t want to be here are only going to be a distraction for those who do while taking up a place that could be filled by another.

Whatever happens over the rest of the season, it certainly looks like it will be anything but dull.
