Manu Lonjon claims Pepe has a sprained knee, and Arsenal are going to carry out additional examinations to determine how serious the injury is.

At this stage, that’s all we know. There’s no evidence he tore his ACL, and it seems extremely unlikely he would complete 88 minutes if he did. The worst challenge on Pepe was much earlier in the match, even before his goal.

The injury kept Pepe out of Arsenal’s draw against Standard Liege on Thursday, and it’s pretty safe to assume he’ll also miss the Manchester City match.

It’s another blow for Freddie Ljungberg, after losing Granit Xhaka and Kieran Tierney this week. Xhaka should be back after the City game, but Tierney won’t be for a while.

Hector Bellerin is also a doubt for Sunday with a tight hamstring. Bellerin had to pull out of the West Ham match during the warm-up.

When it rains, it pours. The results aren’t in yet though, and with any luck, Pepe will just have some inflammation causing minor irritation.
