Calum Chambers’ injury could mean the defender misses the rest of the season after hurting his knee injury in Arsenal’s clash with Chelsea

Arsenal made a strong start against Chelsea, taking an early lead, but Calum Chambers had to come off after just 23 minutes. At the time, the encouraging sign was that he walked off the pitch.
All the same, that doesn’t rule out damage to his anterior cruciate ligament. Unlike a broken bone, you often can walk on an ACL injury, despite its severity. Unfortunately, the Daily Mail suggest concerns of an ACL tear are growing after tests on Monday.

We know all too well how long it takes to come back from this. Rob Holding and Hector Bellerin missed around nine months as a direct result of their ACL injuries. They’re both still trying to find full fitness a year after their respective tears.
It leaves Arsenal with David Luiz, Shkodran Mustafi, a concussed Sokratis Papastathopoulos and a semi-fit Rob Holding as their senior defensive options right now. A deal for a defender in January certainly looks more likely now.
