Arsenal are reportedly closing in on a deal to bring Manchester City’s leading recruitment specialist, Sam Fagbemi, to the club.

Sam Fagbemi, 25, is currently in charge of City’s youth scouting strategy and Arsenal’s deal to sign him is said to be at an ‘advanced’ stage according to an exclusive in Wednesday’s Daily Mail.

He is said to work closely with City’s head of academy recruitment, Joe Shields, someone else Arsenal have tried to get to join them in London.

It is claimed Arsenal have offered Fagbemi more responsibility and a ‘stronger grip on their youth recruitment’ in order to lure him from the Etihad.

His personal statement on his linkedin page reads, “I hold a strong enthusiasm and passion for the industry of sports, part of this passion and drive is identifying sporting talents in relevant Sporting areas; and offering some sort of a contribution in terms of developing specific talents.

“One area of this contribution involves me scouting and recruiting for ages 5-16 in specific areas in London such as football many who know me know my passion is scouting and recruitment. I’m a out and out scout! I also follow up on every lead given!

“I am always striving to improve my performance and my knowledge as a Scout. Whatever you put into your work, in most cases is what you get out of it. I aim to put in a 100% at all times.

Arsenal are also said to be interested in signing Phil Antwi, talent-spotter at Wolves, as they look to reorganise following Steve Morrow’s departure.
