HLN reported that Arsenal, AS Roma, Olympique Lyonnais, Olympique de Marseille and LOSC Lille are all interested in the 21-year-old defensive midfielder, who currently plays in the German second division.

The player is reportedly valued at €30m (£25.7m) after an encouraging start to the season, pushing himself into the team’s starting lineup on a more regular basis. Mangala has also featured for the Belgium u21s on 10 occasions, though he’s yet to break into the senior side.

WhoScored list Mangala’s strengths as passing, dribbling, tackling, ball interception and concentration -meaning he has a low frequency of individual errors.

The Stuttgart player is completing more dribbles per 90 minutes (3.6) than any other player to feature for 500+ minutes in the 2. Bundesliga this season.

A midfielder who is strong defensively but can also progress the play forward with his dribbling sounds like exactly what Arsenal could do with.

It’s hard to say whether Mangala would be ready to make the jump from the German second tier to the English first, though.
