Aubameyang joins 21 others on the main squad list for the upcoming break, along with two extras in reserve. Gabon are set to take on DR Congo (14th November) and Angola (17th November) in the first two matches of their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

In October, Gabon played their first fixtures in over six months, facing Burkina Faso and Morocco. They won the former friendly thanks to a late goal from Aubameyang, before getting another late winner through an own goal to beat Morocco 3-2.

Things are starting to look up for the national side, who have had plenty of problems in the past, particularly concerning Aubameyang. Last season, Aubameyang admitted he was considering international retirement after turning down an international call-up based on their latest falling out.

He’s back involved with them again now though, after being convinced by head coach Patrice Neveu, so they can focus fully on qualifying for another international tournament.

Aubameyang missed out on Arsenal’s trip to Vitoria in midweek, but he’ll surely be involved against Leicester City over the weekend before he joins up with his country.
