Beth Mead’s excellent form has been rewarded with a new long-term contract as she continues to get even better.
Top scorer in 17/18 with 16 goals in 24 starts before becoming an integral part of Arsenal’s title winning season last year, the 24-year-old is well deserving of a new deal.
Mead, who was made an Ambassador for her home town of Whitby during the summer, arrived at Arsenal from Sunderland in 2017.
With 19 caps for England and five goals, she has five goals in nine starts (and two sub appearances) for Arsenal this season, who currently sit just outside the Champions League places in third place on goal difference.
“We are very happy that Beth has signed a new long-term contract with us,” Joe Montemurro told Arsenal.com. “Beth is incredibly talented, and she has developed so much in the last couple of years, so we are excited to see her continued growth.
“Beth is an integral part of our squad both on and off the pitch and it is brilliant that she has committed her future with us.”
Mead herself said on Twitter, “Very happy to extend my contract with @ArsenalWFC looking forward to what the future brings! P.s. sorry about the cheey video.”
What cheesy video, you say? This one –

It’s not clear how long her new deal will run for as women’s football tends to be a lot more secretive around that sort of stuff than men’s.
