Sol Campbell was officially announced as the Southend United boss on Tuesday, but fortunately, he wasn’t in charge to take the blame for the battering they received that night.

Southend had two players sent off as they lost 7-1, and Arsenal midfielder Sheaf scored the goal that originally gave them the lead.

With the scores level at 1-1, James Coppinger crossed the ball into the back post. With a defender closing him down, Sheaf decided to take the chance on with a volley, which found its way in via a deflection.

Sheaf had been on one previous loan to Stevenage in 2017/18, but he hadn’t managed to find the net in 10 appearances for the side. That’s not exactly surprising, as he split his time between defensive midfield and centre-back.

Not much has changed on that front, as he still plays a very defensive role in midfield for the most part. It’s great to see him getting one goal on the board though. Maybe more will follow in the future!
