With Arsenal playing on Monday, Thursday and Sunday this week, Unai Emery was forced into some heavy rotation for the Europa League clash with Vitoria on Thursday. Sokratis and Aubameyang were two of the players to miss out, so they watched the game from the stands instead.

Pépé was another to drop out of the starting lineup after playing 78 minutes in Sheffield earlier in the week, but he came off the bench for the final 15 minutes with the team trailing 2-1.

The summer signing scored twice to win the game for Arsenal, and a fan caught the reactions of Aubameyang and Sokratis on camera.

Aubameyang must be particularly pleased given he’s grown close with Pépé on and off the pitch. The Gabon international and Lacazette have both taken Pépé under their wing since the summer, and Aubameyang even tried to kickstart the winger’s goal tally at Arsenal by handing him a penalty.

In the end, Pépé needed to take on that goalscoring responsibility himself, as you can only get so far with handouts from teammates. On Thursday we saw him do just that, so it’s onto the next one for him now.
