Bayern Munich winger Serge Gnabry has revealed Arsenal playmaker Mesut Özil is the best teammate he’s ever had, despite playing alongside a number of very talented stars.

Gnabry is just 24 years old, but he’s already played in quite a few top teams. He spent a few years with Arsenal, then played for Werder Bremen and Hoffenheim, and now he’s starting for Bayern Munich and scoring four against Spurs. Plus, he’s also made appearances for Germany at pretty much every level.

From all the stars he’s played alongside, the winger picked out Arsenal’s Mesut Özil as his best teammate.

“I’ve already played with many good guys. But, if I have to highlight one, I take Mesut Özil,” Gnabry told Goal at the start of the year. “The kind of quality I have seen in his training and in the games at that time was amazing.”

Unfortunately, this season, Gnabry is having a lot more success than Özil. The former Gunner has five goals and three assists in eight appearances in all competitions, and all everyone is talking about after Bayern Munich’s 7-2 thrashing of Tottenham in their own back yard.

Meanwhile, Özil has played just 71 minutes as his struggle for game time drags on. Whether it’s because of injury, illness, or Unai Emery simply deciding to leave him out, the German midfielder can’t get in to the team at all.

Let’s hope that changes soon, considering Arsenal could do with some help on the pitch but I doubt it will.
