Excluding penalties, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has the best conversion rate of any Premier League player with 10+ goals since he joined Arsenal.
Since his transfer in January 2018, Aubameyang has scored goal after goal for Arsenal. He’s up to 49 goals and 11 assists with a few months to go before he’s even been in North London for two years.
There’s always been an accusation that the striker misses too many of his chances though, which isn’t reflected in reality. Aubameyang actually has the best conversion rate of all the top Premier League goalscorers since he joined.
Since joining the club, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang has the best chance conversion rate (excluding penalties) in the Premier League of any player with 10+ goals
32.1% Aubameyang
29.7% Chicharito
28.7% Sterling
27.9% Lukaku
26.5% Vardy
26.1% Mané
25.6% Martial
25.4% Aguero— Orbinho (@Orbinho) October 14, 2019
The explanation for the disparity between the stats and the general perception of Aubameyang’s finishing is that he does miss quite a few clear-cut chances. However, that’s only because he makes so many big chances for himself with his fantastic movement.
Any player who misses a few open goals will get a reputation for it, even if they finish chances more consistently than anyone else in the league on average.
The truth is Aubameyang scores more than any other centre-forward in the league, so it’s nothing for Arsenal fans to worry about.
