After the latest round of fixtures on Thursday, the Europa League announced their Team of the Week and Player of the Week, both featuring Arsenal’s Man of the Match Martinelli.

With two goals and an assist, it’s not exactly a surprise to see Martinelli handed the Player of the Week award. The winger, playing as a striker on the night, created a game-high five chances, as well as the two he scored. He only narrowly missed out on netting even more on a few occasions.

Martinelli also impressed with his work off the ball. He pressed the Standard Liege players tirelessly, and no one made more than his three tackles. He won the only aerial duel he contested, completed both of his dribbles and his movement helped him take seven shots – another match-high total.

Martinelli wasn’t the only Arsenal player to feature in the Team of the Week though. Kieran Tierney also made the side at left-back, after a similarly impressive first appearance in Europe for the club.

Tierney matched Martinelli’s three tackles and two dribbles, and he also added two interceptions to the defensive side of things. He created four chances, completed 93% of his passes and assisted one of Martinelli’s goals.

The ex-Celtic man should have had another assist, with Willock firing over after getting on the end of an excellent cross. He’ll be more than happy with his night’s work overall though.
