Arsenal u16s got another great result against Leyton Orient u16s on Thursday, with Khayon Edwards and Marcelo Flores the stars of the show.
The u16s have been in excellent form this season, though on this occasion they were bouncing back from a recent 2-0 defeat to Brighton. That loss was just a blip after plenty of more encouraging results like a win over Chelsea and scoring three or more goals in victories against Aston Villa, West Ham and Southampton.
Nonetheless, the u16s wanted to bounce back against Leyton Orient’s youth side on Thursday, and they did so with a 5-0 win.
Though a victory as dominant as that is always a team effort, there were certainly two standout stars from the match. Khayon Edwards scored four of the five goals, whilst Marcelo Flores assisted all five. Omari Hutchinson scored the fifth goal.
At this early stage of the campaign, Edwards is already into double figures for the team, and he seems to get a goal or an assist every time he plays.
Flores has been similarly influential recently, captaining the side on occasion and regularly getting involved with the goals from the wings.
The group certainly look talented, with the likes of Malcolm Ebiowei and Omari Hutchinson also impressing with regular goals and assists, along with Taylor Foran’s solid presence at the back, among others.
Ovie Ejeheri also made his return to the pitch in goal after 14 months out, so he’ll be delighted with the clean sheet.
We spoke to Flores about joining Arsenal back in April, if you want to learn more about the youngster after his five assists in one game.
