Ashley Smith, 30, pleaded guilty on Thursday in court of attempting to rob Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac on 25 July this year while a second man appeared in court on Friday.

The incident went viral when Arsenal’s full-back was seen on CCTV trying to chase off the attacker who was attempting to rob the pair.

Smith pleaded guilty to trying to steal watches from the Arsenal men. He was remanded in custody and will be sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court on November 1.

Jordan Northover, 26, has also been charged with attempting to rob Kolasinac of an item of ‘value unknown’ at Platts Lane and appeared before magistrates on Friday.

Northover did not enter a plea, speaking only to confirm his name, age and address. He was remanded into custody and will also appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court on November 1.
