Jose Mourinho would be interested in the Arsenal job if the club decide to part ways with Unai Emery, according to reports.

ESPN claim their sources inform them Mourinho would be open to talking to Arsenal about the head coach position if it became vacant, though the Gunners have no plans to sack Emery as things stand.

El Chiringuito TV reporter Diego Plaza Casals reiterates that Mourinho would look favourably on the Arsenal job, and The S*n claim his preference is to manage in the Premier League, as he is currently living in London.

Obviously, the history between Arsenal and Mourinho isn’t quite so favourable. The Portuguese manager was a long-term rival of Arsène Wenger, and the Emirates Stadium crowds would regularly start chants against Mourinho when he was managing the opposition.

Most of those fans probably feel the same way now, especially after seeing the way things went for Mourinho at Manchester United. There are some who have grown so discontented with things under Emery that almost anyone else in charge seems favourable, but perhaps Mourinho is a step too far.

Either way, for now Emery remains in charge, and it doesn’t seem as if that’s set to change imminently.
