Joe Willock played his first game for the England u21s in a 2-2 draw with Slovakia on Friday, he played 67 minutes and England were 1-0 up through an Eddie Nketiah penalty at the time of his substitution.

The midfielder had previously received a call-up for the u21s in the last international break, but he had to pull out with an injury, so this was his first appearance on the pitch.

Meanwhile, Mazeed Ogungbo made his debut for the Republic of Ireland u19s.

The centre-back, who can also play at left-back, played 90 minutes as his country fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat to Denmark. Mark McGuinness also featured for Ireland, playing the final 25 minutes as a substitute.

Finally, Sam Greenwood made his u18 debut in a 5-2 win over Poland. Like Willock, Greenwood was actually called up over the last international break but had to pull out with an injury. Miguel Azeez also featured in the win.

It’s always good to see Arsenal youngsters making the step up to the next level with their countries, and these three fully deserve the promotions after positive performances for the academy recently. Congratulations to the trio!
