ElDesmarque report that Unai Emery and the Arsenal transfer team have proposed a €30m fee for Ceballos. This is considered ‘insufficient’ by Florentino Perez, who wants a minimum of €35m for the midfielder.

Even though the gap is only €5m, ElDesmarque claim this is still a major barrier to the deal going through. Perez doesn’t actually want Ceballos to leave at all, but the player is growing more and more aware he won’t have much of a chance under Zinedine Zidane.

If the managerial situation changes, Ceballos’ standing in Madrid could change with it. You’d imagine the same would be true of Arsenal, as a new head coach may or may not be keen to keep Ceballos. For now, neither Zidane nor Emery appear to be going anywhere.

Coming off the bench for the second half against Sheffield United, Ceballos maintained his record of having featured in every competitive game this season. The loan is certainly going well for him in terms of playing time, regardless of what happens next.
