Arsenal are hopeful that Alexandre Lacazette will be back in action later this month as they move dangerously close to having a full squad of entirely fit players.

It seems like a dream.

Years ago, Arsenal suffered so many injuries I started InjuryLeague.com to prove that they got more injuries than everybody else. Arsene Wenger and co. insisted there wasn’t a problem, but there clearly was and we all knew it. The league tables consistently proved it, so well in fact I didn’t have to bother doing it any more.

One of the things that has really struck me since the regime change last summer is how few players we now see getting injured.

Sure, we’ve had a run of bad luck with knee injuries, but in terms of niggles and players being out for ‘three weeks’ only to return three months later, there has been a massive drop-off.

Players return when the medical staff say they’ll return.

It’s madness.

So, with that, ahead of the game against Standard Liege, Arsenal only have two players out in Lacazette and Emile Smith Rowe, who is recovering from a concussion.

The latest update from Arsenal states that they expect Lacazette back this month while Smith Rowe is being eased back into full training following the blow to his head against Forest in the Carabao Cup.
