Highly-rated young midfielder Yunus Musah has announced his departure from Arsenal on Instagram, confirming he’ll now join Valencia.

16-year-old Musah was considered one of the top talents in his age group at Arsenal, along with the likes of Miguel Azeez and Kido Taylor-Hart.

Whilst the rest signed scholarship deals over the summer, Musah turned his offer down. He appeared to move on to Valencia, though there was no confirmation from either club or the player himself until now.

Writing on Instagram, Musah finally made his departure from Arsenal official.

“I have decided to take a different step in my pathway to achieve my dream,” Musah said. “I cannot express my gratitude to the overwhelming support the club gave me throughout the course of my journey with Arsenal.

“Not a day will pass without remembrance to those who have helped me achieve in my career thus far. A profuse thank you to all of my teammates and staff who have helped consolidate me as a player. Once a Gunner, always a Gunner.”

It’s good to see the player recognising the effort the staff at the Arsenal academy put into his development and trying to keep him around. Musah had already earned plenty more chances at u18 level than many of his peers before leaving, so it would be harsh to say Arsenal didn’t do everything they could.

Unfortunately for the Gunners, Musah has simply decided to take his youth career in a different direction. He’s appeared in a few matches with Valencia Mestalla recently, and he’s confirmed that’s where he’ll be signing permanently.

Good luck to Yunus with his new adventure, and maybe we’ll see him back in Arsenal colours again someday!
