Unai Emery has confirmed that Sead Kolašinac had a ‘small problem’ with a knock against Frankfurt, but they believe it’s not serious.

Kolašinac started his third game in a row on Thursday, with Arsenal’s alternative options severely limited by Nacho Monreal’s departure and Kieran Tierney’s continuing recovery from injury.

It was rather worrying, therefore, to see the left-back having to come off in the last 10 minutes against Frankfurt, with Ainsley Maitland-Niles coming on to add deputy left-back to the list of current positions he holds in the squad.

After the game, Emery confirmed that Kolašinac had been withdrawn due to a small injury concern, but not anything serious.

“He played on Sunday, tonight and he felt a small problem but I think he’s fine,” Emery told the media (via Arsenal).

That’s good to hear ahead of the upcoming fixtures, with Arsenal likely to face Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest and Manchester United before Tierney is ready to return – even without any setbacks.

The likes of Tolaji Bola, Zech Medley and other youth players could fill in against Forest, but Arsenal really need an experienced first-team player for the trip to Old Trafford. Thankfully, it seems Kolašinac is still available to play that role at this stage.
