Pepe showed a lot of promise in the derby over the weekend, just as he did against Liverpool. The winger completed 80% of his dribbles, created a couple of chances including for the assist, and won the majority of his individual duels.

The 24-year-old just needs to get the goals flowing, but the chances are falling his way, with a total seven shots against Spurs. That’s an encouraging sign that the goals will follow.

Still, Pepe has given Arsenal fans plenty of exciting and enjoyable moments already, including one skill in the 53rd minute of Sunday’s match. The Ivory Coast international looked to be set to lose the ball before beating two men with one ball-roll and flick.

Arsenal fans enjoyed watching the moment back, taking encouragement from the way the new signing is dealing with the intensity of the Premier League.

Pepe initially joined up with the Ivory Coast for the international break, but he made the decision with Arsenal to return to the club and build up his fitness. According to the Gunners, there’s no injury, he just wants to focus on his fitness after missing pre-season.
