Krystian Bielik has suggested he’d want to move on to a Premier League club if he can’t get promoted with Derby in the next 2 or 3 years.

Bielik joined Derby on a permanent deal this summer, leaving Arsenal after four-and-a-half years, three loans and two senior appearances.

Though he was willing to drop down to the Championship to get more regular game time, Bielik has made it pretty clear his ambition is to play in the Premier League.

Speaking to the media in Poland, the versatile defender insisted his first priority is success with Derby. If it doesn’t come soon though, Bielik suggested he may look to move on to a team in England’s top division.

“I’ve signed a five-year contract. My ambition is a promotion with the Derby County team,” Bielik told Sport.pl (via Derby Telegraph).

“If it does not happen this season, we will try next year. If we do not succeed next year, I do not know what will happen, because I would like to play in the highest league.

“However, if it happens in two to three years, that’s fine.

“I will fight to get there with my current team but if we don’t succeed, there may be a club from the Premier League that will want to loan or buy me out.”

It’s a little strange to already be talking about your potential plans to leave a club just weeks after signing a five-year deal with them. However, Bielik is clearly ambitious and wants to make it clear he doesn’t plan to be in the Championship for his whole career.

Hopefully, leaving for Premier League football won’t be a dilemma Bielik ever actually has to confront, and his current team will earn promotion soon. They haven’t made a good start to the new season at all though, sitting 19th after six matches.
