Malcolm Ebiowei earned his debut from the bench for the u18s recently, but with no u18 matches over the international break, the youngster dropped back to the u16s to grab Arsenal’s opening goal on Friday night.

Khayon Edwards scored from close range in the second half before Omari Hutchinson grabbed the winner with an excellent curling effort from range.

The u16s have had some excellent results lately. From a 5-0 win over Aston Villa to a 3-1 victory over West Ham, a 4-1 win over Southampton last weekend to this latest victory over a strong Chelsea academy team.

That’s thanks largely to the attacking quartet of Khayon Edwards, Malcolm Ebiowei, Marcelo Flores and Omari Hutchinson.

Ebiowei has three goals and three assists in his last three games, drawing attention from Nigeria, whilst Edwards has a goal or assist in each of the aforementioned victories.

Many Arsenal fans will already know about Hutchinson from his viral videos at a younger age, but it’s great to see he’s continued developing and pushing forward. Flores is a regular in the Mexico youth teams, and a recent acquisition by Arsenal.

With the current u23 generation at Arsenal starting to make waves in senior football, it looks like the club could have another strong batch of talent coming up behind. Let’s hope they can keep their heads down and keep progressing through the ranks.
