Arsenal named a completely fresh starting lineup against Nottingham Forest, making the full 11 changes from their win over Aston Villa at the weekend.

That easily could’ve backfired against a strongly-performing Forest side bringing over 8,000 fans to the Emirates Stadium, but the team gelled surprisingly effectively to ease to a comfortable victory.

A large part of that was due to the influence of some excellent young talents in the Arsenal lineup and the return of a few injured stars.

Academy graduates Joe Willock and Reiss Nelson, 18-year-old summer signing Gabriel Martinelli and out-of-position Calum Chambers all performed well enough to feature in WhoScored’s TOTR:

WhoScored referenced Chambers’ “hat-trick of assists” among the reasons for his inclusion, whilst praising Willock’s off the ball work as well as his goal.

Nelson drew praise for his four key passes and three successful dribbles, as well as hitting the woodwork, scoring and assisting, and Martinelli’s two goals from two shots on target were always going to give him a shot at the team.

All four players will be hoping for further chances in the coming weeks, with Thursday’s Europa League home game against Standard Liege probably their next best opportunity.
