Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang feels Arsenal are just giving goals away to their opponents at the moment, and it’s hard to argue.

Speaking after Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Watford at the weekend, Aubameyang admitted to the French media (via GFFN) it’s a shame the way the team are giving up goals at the moment.

The striker stopped short of blaming anyone in particular, but it’s clear he believes the goals are going in too easily.

“I feel like we are literally giving goals to the opposition, it is up to us to progress in that respect,” Aubameyang said.

“I don’t want to accuse anyone, you could say that the attackers could have killed the game off and scored a third goal, so I am not going to say it is someone’s fault. It is a shame to concede the goals as we did.”

Looking back at the last four games, Arsenal shouldn’t have conceded nearly as many goals as they did. Burnley’s goal was a bit unlucky, as the ball deflected off Sokratis into Ashley Barnes’ path, but the rest were much more preventable.

David Luiz’s penalty conceded for a foul on Mohamed Salah was the most obvious example against Liverpool, but Sokratis also prevented Matteo Guendouzi jumping for a header for the first goal.

Then came the North London derby, where Luiz, Bernd Leno and Sokratis all made individual mistakes in the build-up to the first goal before Granit Xhaka’s bizarre challenge gifted Spurs a penalty for a second.

Sokratis then passed the ball directly to Tom Cleverley in the box for Watford’s opener and Luiz conceded another penalty to throw away three points on Sunday.

Either the centre-back pair are just ridiculously error-prone or something about the system is forcing them into mistakes. Unai Emery needs to figure out the answer quickly.
