David Luiz was a late addition to the Arsenal squad at the end of the window. Prior to that, Chelsea and Everton had been in talks over the transfer of 21-year-old centreback, Fikayo Tomori.

According to Football Insider, they even had a deal in place during August with the player ready to join the Toffees on loan for the season to replace Kurt Zouma, who had returned to Chelsea.

Frank Lampard, however, stopped the deal from completing as soon as he approved David Luiz’s £8m sale to Arsenal.

So far, Tomori has played 90 minutes for Chelsea in the league as Lampard stays true to his word to see youth finally given a proper chance at Chelsea for the first time since Roman Abramovich arrived in 2003.
