William Saliba is continuing to sit out of competitive matches for Saint-Etienne at the moment, as a result of a muscular injury he picked up in May.

After making 19 appearances in his breakthrough season for Saint-Etienne in 2018/19, Saliba ended up missing the final game of the campaign with a muscular injury.

The centre-back secured a £27m move to Arsenal over the summer all the same, before being loaned back to the Ligue 1 club. Unfortunately, he was unavailable for their opening-day win over Dijon last weekend, as he continues his recovery.

Saliba did feature in a friendly match in pre-season, funnily enough against Arsenal’s first Premier League opponents, Newcastle. The defender played around an hour before coming off, but still isn’t deemed fit enough for the competitive matches.

There’s no information publicly available for Saliba’s return date, but we’ll bring you updates as soon as we have them. We’ve teamed up with Chloe Gallot of Ultimo Diez to report on the defender’s progress this season, so stay tuned.
