Jose Mourinho has been incredibly complimentary about Arsenal’s newboy, Kieran Tierney, despite the Daily Express trying to make it seem like a dig.
Look, here at Daily Cannon, we’re no fans of Jose Mourinho and I think we’ve been fairly clear about that over the years.
So, when I saw a headline that said “‘Mourinho taking a dig?’ – Arsenal fans question Jose Mourinho after transfer deal comment” I opened the article to see what the idiot had said this time.
I should have known better given the headline was from the Express, hands down the worst paper out there (even worse than the Daily Star) for it’s clickbaity bulls**t.
What Mourinho actually said was, “Tierney I think is a young Monreal.
“[He is] the same kind of profile. Reliable boy, looks a great character, looks a great personality.
“He looks a little like someone from a previous generation in some aspects.
“He has a humble way of behaving and I like his profile.”
The Express then went and found two Arsenal fans who apparently don’t rate Monreal and used them as the jump-off point for their article to imply Mourinho had a dig at the 22-year-old which, as you can read, he clearly didn’t.
There are a reported 27 million Arsenal fans around the globe yet here we have a major publication claiming these two idiots speak for the rest of us.
Nacho Monreal has, without question, been one of Arsenal’s standout players since his arrival from Malaga at the start of 2013.
He’s made 249 appearances, scoring 10 and assisting 20, playing almost 20,000 minutes for the club while winning three FA Cups and three Community Shields, which count as trophies here because we’re talking about Jose Mourinho who always includes them.
The Spaniard, who is now 33, is out of contract at the end of the season and with the club activating his one-year option last season, it seems unlikely they are planning to keep him past the summer of 2020.
When he leaves, the overwhelming majority of Arsenal fans will be sad. What these two no-marks feel, however, will no doubt be used as the basis of another Express piece.
