As first reported by The Athletic, Arsenal narrowed down the possible loan options for Nketiah to three clubs – Bristol City, Leeds United and Fortuna Dusseldorf – before asking them to make presentations to a loan committee.

The Gunners had previously asked for details on how Nketiah would be used, the tactics each team utilised and stats on their performance in 2018/19, but they also had to present their ideas and philosophies in person.

The loan committee reportedly consisted of Huss Fahmy, Ben Knapper and Eddie Nketiah himself, a panel lineup which has also been confirmed by Training Ground Guru.

Fahmy is in charge of contract negotiations at Arsenal, as many will already be aware, but Knapper is probably a lesser-known name for fans of the club.

The former lead analyst received a promotion to become Arsenal’s Loans Manager earlier this year. His job entails overseeing the process for deciding which players should go out on loan and where, and he also monitors the loanees whilst they’re away.

It’s great to hear that Nketiah was involved as well, as he was the one whose career was ultimately affected by the decision.

Now he just needs to keep proving the system worked and Arsenal made the right call, after his debut goal against Salford City in midweek. Leeds face Wigan at 15:00 BST on Saturday, though Nketiah is expected to start on the bench.
