Former Arsenal forward Ryo Miyaichi played four different positions at the start of the 18/19 season in just four games and was then deployed as a right-back despite being a winger.

Ryo Miyaichi was released by Arsenal in 2015 and signed for FC St Pauli. During his time there he has suffered a number of injuries including two cruciate ligament ruptures.

In total, the 26-year-old (how is he 26?) has played just 53 times for the Germans, scoring seven and assisting three.

Now playing the full 90 in every game, Miyaichi has played all four of St Pauli’s games this season (three in 2.Bundesliga, one in the cup) but has played a different position in each match.

  • v Greither Furth (league) – second striker
  • v VfB Lubeck (cup) – right midfield
  • v VfB Stuttgar (league) – right back

If you’re wondering how he feels about all that, I think he’s just pleased to be on the pitch.

“I am pleased to play again,” he said in July last year. “Everything is fine, I have no pain. That was not always the case. In 2015, the left cruciate ligament tore and in 2017 the cruciate ligament in the right knee.”
