Matteo Guendouzi is hoping he can nail down a regular place in the France national team and believes Arsenal ‘clearly’ have a better team this season.

In contrast to the start of last season when they lost their first two games (albeit against stiffer opposition), Arsenal are off to a 100% winning start this time out and Matteo Guendouzi believes that is, in part, down to having a better squad.

“We clearly have a better squad than last season with big signings this summer,” Guendouzi told Canal Football Club where he was a special guest on Sunday.

“We hold all the cards to have a great season and finish in the top 4 to be able to play in the Champions’ League next season.”

The 20-year-old has established himself as an Arsenal regular despite arriving last summer with the tag of ‘one for the future’. So what does the future hold for the midfielder? Well, he hopes it involves becoming a regular starter for France, as well.

“My aim is to be in the senior French national team,” he added.” I know I still have a lot of work ahead of me. I did the Euros with the U21s this summer, we have the Olympics coming next summer, so if I continue on my path, with more work and continuing to show my qualities on the pitch, I hope I will be there one day.”
