RMC (via GFFN) initially reported that a deal was agreed for Reine-Adelaide to join Lyon from Angers for €30m including bonuses. L’Equipe made a marginally different claim, writing in their Wednesday edition that the fee is €25m plus €2.5m in bonuses.

Lyon have since confirmed the news with a post on their website.

Reine-Adelaide is set for a medical on Wednesday before signing a five-year contract. It will be Angers’ record sale, with the player choosing Lyon over OGC Nice so he can play Champions League football.

Arsenal have a sell-on clause rumoured to be 10% of any future sale by Angers, meaning €2.5m of the guaranteed fee will go the Gunners’ way. They also have a matching clause to sign the player back, but it’s extremely unlikely they’ll activate it.

Reine-Adelaide left Arsenal as a winger, but he’s found more luck in recent times playing in the middle. Six of his eight senior goals and assists have come in games where he’s played centrally, despite only moving to the new position in March.

Questions remain over the French u21 international’s end product, despite that recent improvement. It seems he’s getting a good move to one of his country’s top clubs though, so he’s in a great position to answer the doubters.
