Luke Shaw’s injury is set to keep him out for five or six weeks, meaning he’s already a major doubt for Arsenal’s trip to Old Trafford next month.

The Daily Mail reported on Tuesday that Shaw suffered a hamstring injury in United’s match against Crystal Palace at the weekend. The Mail claim he could be out for five weeks, giving him a return date of October 1st, a few days after Arsenal’s trip on September 30th.

The Telegraph have an even more pessimistic timeframe, claiming Shaw could be out for as long as six weeks. They even have him down as a doubt for the Liverpool match in mid-October.

In both reports, they’re clear to write ‘up to’ five or six weeks, meaning it could well be less than that. We’re still in the very early stages of the injury, so it’s always difficult to say exactly how long a hamstring problem like this will last.

For the time being, it seems like Arsenal will face Ashley Young at left-back when they make the trip to Manchester next month. Nicolas Pepe will hopefully be on a run by then and ready to take advantage of the situation.
